Junior Olympics Sophomore Scholarship

Recipient: of the scholarship will have all entry fees into the Junior Olympics paid. The recipient will be a Sophomore JO Qualifier.

History: Michael Aufrichtig (class of 1989) and Jennifer Aufrichtig (class of 1992) both Caddo Magnet Fencing Alumni fenced 4 years while attending Magnet. Michael’s first Junior Olympics was his sophomore year and Jennifer participated as a freshman. It was the Junior Olympics that excited them both to continue on with the sport. Jennifer went on to win numerous local tournaments, two individual golds while in college at UT Austin and is now a doctor in New York. Michael went on to NYU where he was a multiple finalist in junior and senior competitions, qualifying and winning the bronze medal at the 1995 Olympic Festival and bronze medal at the 1997 Maccabean games. He is currently a Sales consultant for an Internet marketing company working with non profits and founder of a fencing video business, Fencing Footage.com.
Criteria: Each eligible fencer, in order to be considered for the scholarship, must:
· be a sophomore attending Caddo Magnet High School
· have qualified for the Junior Olympics via the Ark-La-Miss qualifying tournament
· complete the form below
Each fencer eligible must complete the following form and questionnaire and turn it in to Mr. Candiloro no later than the last day of the first semester (before the holiday/new year's break). All fencers should follow normal procedures to register for the JOs as the scholarship will reimburse expenses.
